When My Engine Is Cold........
When my engine is cold it tends to have a little popping/backfiring when I let off the gas in first gear in my parking lot. I have a tiny exhaust leak I can hear in the back, I heard that could cause this on LS1's. It quits right after I pull on to the road. Just wondering if its normal on LS1's. Thanks

Someone had mentioned in another thread and I 2nd the motion, all cars should be given a warm up period if cold, like, overnight cold. At least 3min no more than 8-10 min. a long idle is not good, but a get-in and go is bad, very bad. With the LS1's you need to allow the motor to warm up due to piston to wall clearance. Let the piston heat up and expand also. Alot of slap in these motors.
Also, convexion, where did you get your window motors? I need to get some, tooooosloooowwwwwwww going ^^^^^^^^

Hey Sapper, I picked them up at Autozone for $140 for two motors. These Siemens come with a lifetime warranty so if you have a problem with the motor in the future they'll replace it for you.

I never stomp it when its cold, I promise. I start it, have a cigarette OUTSIDE of it, then go. I just left it in first gear too long that day I guess. Glad to know its normal though.

The popping is great for setting off car alarms leaving a parking garage The popping is usually caused by the open loop mode more than just a cold motor. I've noticed on my autotap that the popping stops as soon as the pcm switches to closed loop mode. open loop runs rich and causes to fuel to pop in the exhaust ect.
