Default newbie mod help

So, I recently got my license and a 99 Trans Am. Nothin special, just has a Borla catback exhaust and cold air intake. So little things the previous owner had installed, now I was looking around and was thinking about a stall converter, what stall speed is recommended? Or what other mods would be a better investment?

For my goals I just want to go faster, doesn't have to be overkill but just a bit more speed. And budget, not sure on a specific number, but trying to keep cost down

With a 3600 stall does it change the way you idle or launch normally, or does it only raise the stall level when you're holding the brakes?

a quality stall will feel stockish but youll be able to launch harder with a good tire and once its tuned itll keep your motor in its power band longer.

Please keep in mind that one drawback from going faster is losing original refinement of the car. So make sure you have a good idea of your goals for the car. A torque converter is a good investment.

The torque converter transfers power from the engine and multiplies torque.

Your idle may be affected by a higher stall, it depends on what you select.
You want to pay attention to the flash stall not foot brake stall.

The converter will rip the car into rpm quicker and keep the engine in the power band longer. Acceleration will dramatically increase.

The SOP (seat of pants) feel will be extremely noticeable if you change to a higher stall converter and your et can drop half a second or more depending on your selection. And better gripping tires are a wise investment to take full advantage of it.

I would check with the sponsors on the board and pick their brain about which maybe best for your application and budget. The 3600 seems to be common ground for driveability and performance.
