Default Cooling Question

I have 99 T/A and every time i go over 120mph the engine temp. guage starts to move to RED zone really fast. By the time I'm at 130 its already overheating. I replaced the thermo. with a 180 degree one. Is this problem common on LS1's or is it just my car.
HELP PLZ.

Thanks in advance

I have never heard of that, but I highly doubt that the engine would be actually overheating. How long does it take to get to the red? At that speeds, just the air should be enough to cool the engine.

I think you need to give some more info.
ie. Do intown speeds cause it to over heat?
Did you flush it recently and possibly get some air trapped?
Ever actually see it boil over?

For the needle to skyrocket unrealistically quick(if it is) , or only at time of 100mph speeds, that would sound to me like a faulty sending unit or guage

You engine is definitely not actually overheating, the gauge just says it is. Coolant would boil out of the radiator before it ever got that hot. It appears to be some sort of electrical problem. I would go to the dealer, but not sure how you are supposed to describe the problem
