Swap 6.0 L77 for 4.8 L20?
Hello everyone. I have seen a similar thread from years ago here so I hope this post is relevant.
I am looking at buying a 2011-2013 Caprice PPV on an auction site and some are there with bad motors. They seem like they might go for very little money given this. I also see that that the 4.8 gen 4 motor is very, very cheap out of GMT900 trucks.
I am wondering, assuming that I have no care in the world for power, if a 4.8 motor could be easily put in place. My dad had a 2000 Suburban HD 6.0 that he swapped for a 5.3, ran for 4 years and 60,000 miles, and never even got it tuned. I understand that tuning may be necessary. Would I need to find someone who has specific experience, such as with the PPV or with the 4.8?
Thanks for your time!
