Default Charging system question

have a question my 01 ss charges slightly higher than other vehicles I’ve owned... according to the gauge it look to be charging at 14-15.5 amps.. should I worry about this? I used to vehicles charging around 12.5-14 amps

That would be volts not amps and it's not a problem, The gauges are not always that accurate anyway. If you see over 17-18 volts then you should check it with a hand held voltage tester.

Noticed the same thing on mine -- charges around 14.8V.....just below the "red zone" on my OEM voltage gauge. I was concerned at first, but after talking with folks, decided I'd drive it and see. 1.5 years/2500 miles --- no problems. The concession I make is to turn my headlights on if I'm on a long Interstate run....makes me feel better about not overcharging the batter.

Start the engine, pop the hood and put a volt/ohm meter across the battery with the meter setting on dc volts. This will give you an accurate reading of what the charging system is doing. Raise the rpm and watch both the meter and gauge to compare. This should give you piece of mind that all is well
