T56 Question
BUT, my shifter actually takes effort to move between the gears now. Before I could pretty much just slip my shifter into gear but now I have to put a fair amount of effort into it. When I'm actually driving it's a bit easier but if I just sit in the driveway trying to flip it between gears it's rather hard. I can GET it into gear it just seems as if the paths to the gears have been screwed up? I just have to shove/jimmy the shifter a bit more now. If I try and put it into 5th, 6th, or reverse it's almost impossible from a stop. The reverse one is really annoying because that's obviously the only time I would shift to reverse is from a stop.
Any thoughts on what the problem could be, and what I could have damaged? I can still drive it so I think I'm just gonna take it easy for a bit and see if it gets any better. Take it to a friend of mine at the dealer to get it looked at. Could I have bent some shift forks? would that be it? I think it would make sense if I was having problems shifting into 4th but not sure why all the gears are hard now.
I'm praying it's not something to bad because like I said it was my first time ever to the track and I really hope I didn't break something major the first time out. Any input would be great.
Bent forks tend to make the tranny pop out of gear, but do not make shifting stiffer. If your tranny is grinding between gears, the synchros are shot.
1-2 hand in "pistol grip" with thumb upwards
2-3 palm facing downwards, pushing with meat under thumb area on palm
3-4 elbow up (not next to your side), palm down, pushing shifter back with fingers. Thumb pointed towards driver's door.
Most mis-shifts are from using a pistol grip for each shift, the most common is the 3-2 mis-shift. This is typically due to having your elbow next to your side, and using a pistol grip. This puts components of force towards 2nd gear instead of 4th. If you change your hand positions, you eliminate the components of force in the wrong directions.

the only differance in my technic from nine ***** is that on the 3-4 shift i turn my hand palm facing the passanger door and thumb down, in this position it is almost impossable to hit 2nd, the only miss you could have is hitting 6th, and this wont hurt anything.
get your tranny rebuilt and while their at it have them throw in a steel shift fork for 3-4 (most common bent one)
