Need Advice
First of all I'm new to the LS series engines. I have a nice third gen I wanted to do a LS1 swap. I found an engine on CList that stated 2004 GTO 5.7 with 25K miles. He had bought the engine 2 years prior for his swap and ended up not doing it. I could tell by the oil pan it was definitely from a GTO and when I looked at the pictures of the block number I thought it was 12561166 which would be from 2004 LS1/LS6 but i read the number wrong it is 12561168. When I went to pick it up he could not find the paper verifying mileage and he needed to sell the engine so I got it for $650. I'm happy but all I wanted to do is put a stock LS1 set up in my third gen just to keep cost down. I sold the GTO oil pan set up and bought a new F body oil pan, when I changed it out I looked at the cylinder walls of each cylinder and pulled 3 connecting rod caps to check for wear, everything I saw shows no wear. I found the F body front accessory package for it but I still need a throttle body and throttle cable bracket and when I started looking to where the bracket bolts up to there was no holes. I took the tape off the intake opening to uncover not 3 but 4 open bolt holes for a throttle body. Here's what I got and I'm not sure where to go from here. With the current intake I think I am forced to go with a throttle by wire. This is not a stock GTO engine. What should I do next, I do have it on a engine stand.

Sounds like a LS1 block and heads with the LS2 intake swapped on. If you want to stick LS1/6 then just swap out the intake and call it a day. The Dorman LS2 intake was a common swap not that long ago.

Thanks for the reply, it was the same thought I had. Do you know if I can use the LS2 injectors and fuel rails on a LS6 intake? Its now turned into an unexpected expense but I've located another intake.
