Default Performance upgrade ideas!

So recently just bought an 02 Chevy single cab short bed what a 4.8 and a 5 speed trans, looking for performance upgrade ideas as I've never messed with the performance side of things. Basically just looking to do a H/C/I to wake it up a bit and nothing to crazy for the time being. Any and all help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Welcome to Ls1 tech!
Performance upgrades kinda open up a bottomless pit, you can make lots of power reasonably if you think out your build and don't just start throwing parts at it.
What are your plans with the truck ? how much more performance do you want ? Budget ? how much of the work can you do your self ?

Thanks Bigfella88!, but all of the work will be done myself and I'm not going to crazy right off the bat eventually later down the road I may go with forced induction but just want to liven it up a bit for cruises and a little street fun here and there. As far as budget goes I was thinking of spending like 2k or 3k.

5 speed you say? I am not certain but I don't believe the transmission or clutch is rated for super high horse power.

For $2k I would do gears, exhaust, and tune. 20-30 more HP and a little more gear to get it rolling.

Yes its a 5 speed but again I'm not looking for high horse power but again I'm not sure on what route to start with cause again I've never messed with the performance end of vehicles

I'd prolly do some Texas speed headers, and speed engineering true dual exhaust. Then pick out a nice cam kit from tsp as well. Then find a good tuner. That should fit your budget well and pick up 60 + hp. Save up some more cash and go with some boost (procharger or turbo) at a later date.

I see you live in or around STL. You have some good options for tunning . I'm about 40 mi out near Washington , if you get all your parts on I can recommend my tune guy . He's not cheap but does really good work. Either way happy wrenching sir....

I would contact one of the sponsors, they'll lead you in the right direction.
