Default 2002 - ws6

Hey guys, looking to buy a 2002 WS6. Going through the RPO codes I'm trying to figure out if the car has the Hurst shifter. Currently only have a half-decent pic of the shifter area and can't tell if the shifter has the "H" Working on getting a better pic. Anyway, I see that RPO code BBS is for the Hurst Shifter... this car does not have that code. But it does have 1SA group code - which I "think" includes the HURST option? Did they drop the BBS code for the later Firebirds? This is a AUG 2002 build date car.
Any ideas?

I think I answered the question.. and it's NO ...does not have HURST. Next question.. can I add the HURST shifter option? where would I purchase this, how hard to install it? I don't want any other third-party option.. want it to look the same as the cars that came with it...

Hurst shifter was in fact RPO "BBS". There was no other way/option group to get the shifter. And this RPO was the same for anything from a Z28 to a WS6.

As for your second question, I'm not sure if it's possible to buy the exact same Hurst shifter and handle as what would have come from GM in that era.

If you search, you can find them used as a lot of guys replace them with aftermarket shifters.

Good luck because the base shifter is HORRIBLE.

not a hard job to change the shifter? What shifter would be a good upgrade, but still look pretty stock?

I had a B&M and then n MGW. Both improvements even over the Hurst.

Dude, just buy a Tick Racing shifter. It's amazing and a million times better than the hurst.
