Very Simple Basic Question I made the decision just last wk to swap a genIII engine into my 85 Camaro. And a friend suggested I become a member here, I think guys are getting tired of hearing me ask questions that they don't know the answers to.
Anyhoo... since I still don't have an engine, I have some research to do and a decision to make.
The question is, what are all the engine # designations... lq9, lq4, ls2 etc?
Is there a database that someone could link me to, that shows all the various engine models and what year cars or trucks they come from?
Also I understand that the crankshafts have different backspacing from one model to the next.
My plan is to mate the new engine to the 700r4 that's already in my car.
So I also need to find out which parts are needed to make that fit.
That should keep me busy for a while.
