Hate to be that guy, but you need a good beater car to run around in (think old Camry,corrolla,or Honda) so when your firebird is down your not backing your self in a corner as far as reliable normal car duties goes. And yes I'd get that problem squared away before driving further. Not only for your safety but also for the other people on the road as well. Just my .02¢ worth.
