Static timing thoughts
Im planning on setting the timing the same (27-29 degrees) across the entire rpm range, just as I would have had this thing had a distributor, and first wanted to throw that plan out here to see what others think or would recommend.
Alabama car, will never see winter or any change in altitude that a variable load based tune would benefit.

Ya lost me there. Anyone puts a carb on something didn't come carbureted does it so they have something to **** around with-Continuously.
SIMPLE would be installing the ECM,MAP,IAT,Crank+Cam+coolant+O2sensors and 8 injectors came with the engine: THAT combination will run under almost any conditions from Texas-DeathValley in July- GrandCanyon- Yukon in January- stone stock or cammed with 15 pounds boost.... It'll run..
