Engine noise when cold

When cold sounds like piston or rod knock when it’s cold and goes away when it warms up ls1 5.7 .is this a common thing ?

Yes, some more than others.
the 5.3 are slightly more prone-- or that could simply be because they built so MANY MORE miliion of the 5.3 than sister doscplacements.

Yep, LS1s have piston slap when cold. Nothing major to worry about.
