I’m looking at rebuilding my 5.7L LS for more torque down low and I feel like I’m going in circles trying to figure out what’s good and not good.
This motor is going in my Nissan patrol setup for touring and 4 wheel driving.
I’m currently looking at running a BTR truck Norris cam and wanting to know if I should get like different size cathedral ported heads, what good intake manifolds and throttle body size.
Thank you for any and all help I’m very new to LS’s so unsure and trying to learn.
Sounds like you're in Australia. The Truck Norris cam is a good choice, but you don't need to swap heads. If anything, have your present heads milled to bump compression up. Compression and early intake valve closing will help build low end torque up to the limits of whatever the highest octane fuel you can run. A good tune is also a must.
Not in the land down under but in MN. LOL.
But one of my summer time hot rods is a 98 Wrangler with a LS6/4L60E swap. I've got 16 years on the swap. Been bullet proof. The engine combo is a 2002 LS6 rebuilt with forged rods and pistons. Stock rebuilt 243 heads. LS6 valve springs and upgraded push rods. Stock LS6 cam. LS6 intake and fuel injectors. The cost of stock of GM LS6 28 lb injectors have gone thru the roof. $90 a piece here in the US.
Stock LS6 throttle body.
As a summer cruiser and off road cruiser I would stay mild cam wise. Reuse the stock heads.
My Wrangler has 4:10 gears. It's not slow. But it's truly a summer "mall crawler".
