Having owned both, i think the lt1 was more fun around town. However, on the highway i love pulling on people in 3rd and 4th gear where the lt1 would start to run out of breath. Its all about what you like most.

The only reason people post this is usually to start a flame war.At least that's what happens on CamaroZ28.com.Folks that have spent money & time on an LT1 powered F-body don't usually want to hear about how an LS1 is superiour.
All I know is I'm happy to have waited a model year before I purchased my car. However,If I would have gotten an LT1,I would've kept it.

In a nutshell,LT1's that run the same ET/MPH as my LS1 have worse driveability than me,or they're on the bottle. They are also harder to work on,& have reliability issues(opti-spark,water pump to name a few)that I don't have to deal with. Not every LT1 has those problems, but enough of 'em did for GM to redesign those areas.
But without the LT1 there probably would't have been an LS1.

Having owned both, I would have to say I like the LS1's better. They are very docile around town when in "grocery getter" mode, but spin an LS1 up over 3000 rpm and you have a whole different animal. And my '02 has way more power than my '99 ever did so I think the LS1's keep getting better. The LS1's just flat out make more power.

The '95 Z/LT1 was also a great engine/car. Nothing sounds better than a Borla exhaust on an LT1 f-body. I literally got atleast one compliment a week on how good my car sounded...I never get compliments on either of the LS1 cars. The LT1 also had a lot more low end torque but as said before gave up a bunch to the LS1 on the top end. I think a 383 LT1 car would be a blast to drive on the street...can you say torque monster?

Anyway...both engines are great, just differnet. If I had to choose, I'll take my '02 LS1. I think it's the best yet and you can make an LS1 into an LS6. Hmmm......

I have owned a 96 Z28 and now own a 02 Hawk. I think between the 2 I would like to have a LT1 for road racing and crusing around town. Then have a LS1 for top speed, drag racing and road trips.

plan I would like to complete

1.Pay off my 02 LS1 Hawk
2.Go buy a 97 LT1 Hawk

I have never drove a LT1,but I love my LS1.This summer a friend is going to let me drive his LT1 Camaro. I will let him drive my 2002 T/A.One of the reasons I bought an LS1 T/A was the change in the body style in 1998.I love the look of the WS6 Ram Air hood.It reminds me of my 69 T/A.Who knows if the last year T/A had a LT1,I would have had that one.

I pesonally like the front-end design of the LT1 Camaro's better. Their low-end torque makes them more fun to drive around town and for the most part, they do sound a lot better than LS1's.

For a daily-driver(around town), I'd prefer an LT1.

For all-out drag-racing, the LS1 RULES!

Allthough I appreciate the LS1, I have grown fond of, and will stay loyal to, the LT1.
