Default goodbye, formy...

so after numerous problems and due to lots of miles i have decided to trade my formula in on an ls1 car. i have one dilemma though. it is hard as hell to find an m6 around my way, so looks like im gettin an a4. i doubt i will, but does anyone think i will miss my formula whatsoever? i kinda reluctant towards the auto but from what ive ridden in and seen/read, its lookin like ill be plenty happy

I went from my 94 to the 2000 and feel that the LS1 cars are far better than the LT1 cars you won't regret it

so in short, everyone agrees that (somewhat stock) m6 lt1 pales in comparison to any ls1 (also stock). cool. i love my lt1, but its got so many miles, its either trade or end up with the task of rebuilding my daily driver. so...

I did the same, 94 to 00 Formulas, but both were autos. The 94 had 3.23's and the 00 had 2.73's. Although it was faster, the 00 did not feel as good around town until I installed 3.42's and did some tuning. I hope yours has 3.23's! As for easier to work on, no optispark ... you'll love the LS1!

Same here, went from a 94 T/A to a 99 T/A both autos with 2.73's. I loved my LT1, but not as much as my LS1...smoother ride, no creaking or craking noises, a lot quicker and about 70k less miles.

Sparkplug #8 is the devil. Although I wonder how many LT1s are still running around with the original #2 plug LOL. Well at least there's no optijunk to mess with.

Don't be afraid to travel a bit to get the right car. Nothing sucks worse than settling on something that you don't really want (A4) and making payments on it.

One way plane tickets are pretty cheap, be patient and find the 'right' car for yourself.

youre gonna miss one thing though. the from the dig seat of the pants torque of the LT1. youll miss your LT1 until 35 mph...and then your face will light up from ear to ear.

I agree. Don't settle on an automatic if you don't want one.

Besides, people say the auto is faster, but it's not - it's quicker. They don't trap near as high as the manuals do, so when you run into a six speed on the highway he'll pull you around.

Another false myth. Overlay the dyno graphs of a stock LT1 and a stock LS1, and the LS1 has it beat (hp and tq) all the way across the rpm range. LT1s do not produce more torque, it just feels that way since they run out of breath so quickly, and LS1s continue to pull. LS1s also rev smoother.

Like everyone else is saying don't settle for an auto if you really want a M6. I sold my 96 Z28 M6 and bought a 98T/A M6. I also had to drive 500 miles one way with a buddy to go pick it up in Green Bay. It was well worth the trip plus I got the whole ride home for a test drive to see if anything was wrong. I don't regret selling the LT1 for the LS1

Well, I did what everyone's saying not do ... I wanted an M6 but settled for the A4 because it was here in town, price was good, it wasn't modded, it was in excellent condition, good color, and it had everything else I wanted. Do I regret it? Sort of. But I'm having fun with the TC I had installed and other things. It seems like M6's are harder to find and often are beat on when you do find them.
