I understand totally and agree that those speeds weren't safe, but that is my only experince ever going fast enough to see if the car was limited. I dont do it all the time, or some of the time for that matter. I think when i checked the RPOs, or maybe it was the tire sticker in the door, it said the car came with 245s and has no refernce to 235s or what inflation pressure should be or any of that. Did Lt1s come with 235s, because the guy has other camaros that i'm sure he swapped some of the **** i'm supposed o have with them. I know he has an lt1 car with an ls1 front end, and another camaro (93-02) with a six inch cowl hood, I've only seen it under a cover so i dont know what year it is. He also had another that was wrecked. I thought at first he kept the SS wheels for one of his other cars, but it seems i just put the shitty tires on my car. By the way, on tirerack it says that 235s were standard and 245s were optional on z-28s.

When I bought my first car in 1999 (99 T/A) it came with 245 50 16 tires. Z rated of course. That was off the showroom floor.

Anybody have any tech to back up the 162-163mph claims? Not a single stock .bin or .LS1 file shows 162.

my stock .bin file showed 160. I unfortunately lost that file due to a harddrive crash. So i cant post up a screen shot. Atleast thats what i remember. No matter though, whats the real differnence between 160 and 162? not a damn thing.

ya i know some people have the 275's, so i dunno, was it later that GM decided to add those? If memory serves me correct, the 275's came with the 16"chrome rims in the WS6 package on the LS1's..

It's actually 160. But if I remember correctly the momentum carries you a couple more MPH and that's why people say 162 or 163. But officially GM set the computer to 160 and this has been seen by many people when they plugged in LS1-EDIT so it is a fact.

My understanding is the non-Z rated tires were available on Formulas, Z28's & Trans Ams. If you had them they were 235's on 16" rims. If you had the Z rated tire package then you had 245's on 16" rims. But WS6's and SS's all came standard with 275's on 17" rims.

looking back you can see the DeLorean wasn't exactly the primier sports car of its era, however I was only 6 years old and I didn't know any better...mesmorized by the gull wings I guess!

I'm not a DeLorean fan either, but still a badass movie. C'mon, what other car could get to precisely 88 miles per hour?
