Default pcv valve?

how important is that foam cover. my pcv for my 98z298 had a faom piece covering it. its a PITA to put back on and tape. is this need to keep dirt out of the stystem? is it really that important.?

thanks

As long as the rubber grommet that holds the pcv is in good shape, there should be no problem.
