Default Pinging

I have an '01 LS-1 Z-28 and it has around 85,000 miles. Lately, when you are doing around 25 - 30 mph and punch it it pings around 5000 - 6000 rpm. I have always used premium unleaded since day one, run mobil 1 synthetic oil being changed every 3000 - 4000 miles. The only mods that have been done are hypertech 160 stat, hypertech tuning, tr55's, MSD 8.5mm wires, K&N cold air induction kit, and descreened MAF. If anyone has been through this, please let me know what the cure is.

Some guy's said it's oil sucking into the intake from the breathers. They said to get a seperate breather tank sold by one of the sponsors here. Going to have to try that myself because I took off my TB and it was coated with oil. Oh and mine pings also, even with Super Unleaded. Guess that's what is killing my ET's in the Summer. When it's cool it runs great though.

step one: remove hypertech tuning
step two: throw unit in bushes
step three: enjoy
also as stated above check for evidence of oil getting into the intake via the PCV or otherwise.

Some people have also said that the oil from the K&N filters can dirty up the MAF sensor and cause pinging...Then again other people don't have a problem with them..
