wow, that sounds like your rear end may have an issue. Is it the stock rear-end? if so, looks like its time to change it, and id reccomend a 12 bolt. Otherwise Longtubes or a Torque Converter make a great first mod. but get that rear checked first!

Most would probably recommend lid and catback(unless you plan to go duals) as first mods, then it would be up to you if you wanted to go longtubes, torque converter, suspension, sticky tires, H/C, tune etc. do searches. Check the site out often and ask questions. Also theirs a thread about newbie mod mistakes.

Yeah, I had that noise in my z28 for a year and a half, drove just fine. It's your rearend. It IS a timebomb, may last 3 years or blow up tomorrow. If you track it, probably sooner then later. You have auto, it is a little easier on the rear. I was lucky, some people not so lucky with these damn things.

If you don't want to tear it apart to see what exactly is wrong and how bad it is, here's my solution:
Try to roast 'em from the stop, if you only leave one rubber strip, definitely get it fixed ASAP.
If you have equal traction/power on both sides (2 black strips after a burnout), I say ignore the noise like I did, get AAA membership, wait for it to go out with a bang on its own and save up for the new one meanwhile.

The only "permanent" fix is to get an aftermarket rear, that's going to run you in the neghborhood of 2000$. You can replace stock parts, going to be much cheaper (i think around $250 for parts) but less reliable in the long run.

Enjoy your ride, these cars can give most mustangs a bloody nose, all problems aside

Oh yeah, before you do ANY mods you MUST read this thread:
