lid placement issues...

i have an slp lid but when i seal it over the bottom portion, the clamps wont close. I had to move the lid a little bit forward just so the clamps will fit but then theres some open space, which is not so great since i want a tight seal for my FTRA

do any of you guys have this problem? and if so how did you guys fix it?

Make sure the tabs are shoved as far back into the slots as they can.

return it and buy a lid from TSP

I swear to God, I read the title of this thread and said to myselr, "That guy has an SLP lid."

Every aftermarket part that I have heard about or perchaced from SLP has fitment issues. What the **** is their problem and why do we keep buying off of them?

this sucks ***, i think its too late to return it. also, one of the clamps keeps coming loose. can i sand it down maybe so the clamps will actually clamp and make a tight seal?

I had the same problem with my Whisper lid a few years ago, tight fit and the clamps kept popping. Push it as far back in the tabs as you can, and make sure the upper lip on the lid is BEHIND the lower lip of the stock air box frame.

Was your K&N gasket too small? I couldn't get mine to encompass the entire tray. It was like trying to put a shrunken sheet on a bed one corner at a time.

I had a problem when I first got my SLP lid. It has more to do with how the front edges fit. I took the filter out and practiced opening and closing until I figured out the "trick".

mine fits perfect, i wish i could say more...

the front lip of the SLP lid has to tuck just inside the lower box lip. The outer edges outside the clamps sit kinda flush with the lower box.

hmm, in that pic, it looks like the edge is over the bottom lip, not behind.
so is that right?
im not sure now....

the slp lid lip has to tuck inside the edge of the lower box lid. I just installed an slp lid yesterday and i was having the same problems u were until i tuck the lid lip inside the lower box. now it fits perfect.

The lid slides all the way back until the front edge of the lid is behind the front raised lip of the lower air box. The clips should then snap up fine and you'll have a nice tight seal.

ok, i had to shove that lid back all the way. but i had the upper lip behind the lower finally. i didnt think it would clamp either, i thought the plastic would break but it clamped with a tight fit. so thanks guys, hopefully now the hood wont graze the lid...
