Default New guy, got a question

New here, and am thinking about getting an LS1. What years should I stay away from, and what are the common problems?

Get an 01/02 car. They already have some of the upgrades you will want. They put down higher RWHP #'s & produce better track times.

If you're going with a Camaro/TA, I'd go with 01+, they have the better exhaust manifolds, clutch hydraulics, and if they were made late in 02 they had the LS6 intake. If you're going with a Vette/Z06 I'd go with 02-03+, but then again those are LS6's.

TTT for other's opinions to get this thing goin' and help this guy out.

I plan on going with a camaro or trans am, and it will be an auto. I read somewhere that the rod bolts are bad on some years. Any other problems.

You've got good advice already mate. '01 and '02 are mildly better cars, but you really can't go wrong either way. The few hundred bucks in upgrads the newer models came with from the factory would be nothing compared the the purchase price of a '98 F-body to an '02 F-body.

Just get one that's been well cared for, and is in your price range. They're great cars.

Good luck.
