Starter question
I had to replace my starter when the castings broke off rendering the bolts that hold it to the car useless. So I get a remanufactured starter, put it on, and hook up the battery. As soon as it has power, it starts cranking, it dosent start but continues cranking untill i disconnect the battery. Thinking it was a defective solenoid, I return it, get another one, and again its cranking by itself as soon as it has power. Anyone know where to look for help, what to check, anything would help- thanks

I've never done an LS1 starter, but I know on classic sbc starters you had to be careful when you torqued the nut on the big battery cable cause it could be rotated toward the "key" stud on the solenoid. If it made contact with the key stud, as soon as you hooked up the battery, the starter would crank. I always put a grip on the big cable and pull it in the opposite direction the nut tries to turn it.
