i did a search and got mix results on this so the question is, did headers come stock on a 98 LS1?

my search yielded both results saying yes and no. the yes were ones for sale so i wanted to make sure as my new car has headers and i am trying to find out what is stock and what is aftermarket.

I believe they had exhaust manifolds not headers....headers would be aftermarket...unless they had some sort of special car out that year.

They did not come stock with headers.

All LS1s came with exhaust manifolds. If you are going to purchase a car and the owner says that it has headers, all you have to do is look under the hood to confirm.

thanks for the quick answers, i didnt think they did but when i seen people on here mention they had stock headers i wasnt sure which to think. never thought they might interchang the words.

no headers, the 01/02 models came with what some people refer to as shorty headers just b/c of the style of the manifolds, but no they are by no means a header. the 01/02 exhaust is more free flowing then the preceeding years but still not a header, headers are aftermarket parts, and did not come on any model not the 30th or 35th aniversary years....and wasnt even included on the blackbirds either
