Default Free mods

Im a lil new to this site and was wondering if anyone could let me know of a few free mods that could help out my 1/4 a bit. 02 Z28 A4

There are some good writeups on www.installuniversity.com, the main free mod that seems to work the best is the ported MAF, although it's not as effective on the newer ones as it is on the 98s. A nice low cost mod for you would be to install an exhaust cutout, it's an easy tenth or two improvement for less than $100.

One of the best mods of all for your A4 though isn't quite free, it's an aftermarket torque convertor. They are easily worth a half second improvement in the quarter mile since it gets your engine into the powerband faster, and keeps it in the powerband on the shifts.

I just did the free ram air mod on my 98Z, after I finished, I started wondering if there could be a problem with sucking water into the engine. Have you had any problems with that, or is it far enough away??? I sure hope so.

what is the exhaust cutout and do u do it yourself or buy the parts for it? Any other free mods out there?

You can buy the cutout from Tom Byrne Motorsports for around $30 or $40 and have a muffler shop install it for around the same price (it involves cutting off a section of the exhaust and welding in the cutout) To see a pic of the cutout and where it goes, click here:
