Help with shift knob

Help with shift **** instead of going out to buy a cue ball shift **** i decided to make one basicly i bought it and thats as far as ive gotten so far. What would be the best thing to make it with? I have a friend who suggested buying a thread kit from advanced auto but when i went in there i didn know what to call it and the guy just stared at me even after i explained what i was doing. I know you can also use a tap and die kit which i have lieing somewhere around the house. What would you guys suggest that i do? Also if there isnt another thread about this could someone give me the link to save time. Thanks

If you don't like to 8-ball style, take a look at the Hurst or SLP leather ****. Afterthoughtsauto.com has them. I don't know about making one....kind of sounds like a rat-rod project

i really just didnt want to spend that 30 dollars its tough being young and broke haha but i did end up making a corona cue ball shifter i found a thread kit at pep boys which they didnt even know they had and it works great doesnt look too bad either
Id like to see some pics of this aswell. A buddy of mine made one out of an actual 8 ball and it looked really good. It was on a semi ricey mx-6 and it was the only thing i liked about the car. It felt good in your hand and idk, i just liked it. Went to go steal it after he blew the motor and was selling the car but it was gone when i got there
