Default typhoon intake install went wrong

Ok guy's
i installed my typhoon intake and the new 85 mm TB and besides breaking the oil pressure switch..wtf.. when i start it ,it idles like i have a massive cam. it sounds like its going to stall and then just catches its self before it does. when i took it out for a short burst it felt somewhat ok. started smelling fuel and took her back home and the typhoon fuel rail was pissing fuel. so i havent touched it yet tonight..to P!ssed Off..also forgot to plug the map sensor back in on the rear of the intake.. i think i need to stop drinking what i messing with the car..lol

That sucks. At least it didn't catch fire and burn to the ground.

Have you ran it since u plugged the MAP sensor back in? If its still idles like crap, sounds you got a vaccum leak.

I was thinking intake gasket. If you fix the fuel problem and it still tries to stall, i'm betting it's a gasket problem. You could know for sure by letting warm up, if it smooths out as it warms up, it's definetly a gasket. That is of course assuming your car is not spewing fuel...certainly you need to take care of that first.

HA yea, i pm'ed every one that i could fine on this site and i spent hours and days searching and each said they lost 5 hp going from an LS6... even the one guy on that 354543444 page thread on it that was swearing up and down about how good it was admitted to me he lost 5 hp. that 17+ hp gain they claim is total B.S.

Just make sure you have the new gaskets which you should have if you recently received the intake...you can't slide the intake around otherwise you will roll the gaskets which is most likely causing your huge cam sound...use teflon tape on the threads for the AN fuel fittings at the front of the intake to get it to stop pissing fuel hopefully

I recently installed this exact combo. You can view the thread and pictures I took of it HERE!!!

Everything went pretty smooth for me. The teflon tape is a must on the connections. The instructions say not to use it. But I did anyway. The only reason not use the teflon tape is if you over use it and get it over the open end of the fitting and some comes loose with will clog he injectors.

I think most of your problem with the idle is probably not having your map sensor hooked up. mine hunted for idle the first time I started it also after the install. I drove it around for about 30 minutes let the PCM figure it out and it runs fine now. If you have any specific questions on it do not hesitate to PM me. I am more than willing to help you out!

Where did you find that? I searched for days about this exact thing and couldnt find anybody with real numbers. Hell, most that bashed it never had one or had screwed up the install, like here.

Also, the 17hp claim was on a heads cam car, and they had a real dyno sheet, not SOTP or opinion. I doubt you will get this on stock heads and cam.

I currently have the 85mm TB and am going to try the intake, but I will get real numbers and report. I wont give my opinion til I have real numbers myself. I hate when people do that.

The problem here sounds like a vacuum leak. Plug in the sensor, get the fuel leak fixed and try it again. If you still have the problem, check for a vacuum leak. How much were you drinking that you think that effected the install and still test drove the car? I have been known to partake in the drink while working on the car, but not to the point that I think it affected the install, and if I do, I certainly dont drive it.

the intake is nice looking! did you have to pick up a fuel regulator kit to go with the intake?

You only need the fuel regulator for the 98' model year if I am correct.

ooo i see, that is what deterred me from getting it...i thought you would have to use it on 98/99 models...the intake is nasty looking tho and for the price it isnt bad...
