Default A4 or M6

i really want to get into an LS1 already, but the only thing that is holding me back from buying one right now is the choice between an auto or a manual.. which leads me to my question..

which is faster..if everything is equal..let's just say for the sake of argument the car is a 01 Z28, full weight, bolt on car, on a nitto.. say both cars pull a 1.8 60ft which will cross the line first, a stalled auto, or a six speed..?

the reason i ask is i read alot on here about the a4 vs m6 and i know that everyone has their personal prefrence, but i want to know the facts here.. i always read about how an auto can out 60ft the manual, hence the reason i said that both cars pull the same 60ft time. will a stalled auto with a shift kit pull the same or will the six speed without any loss in the 60ft pull ahead down the track? i've owned a six speed lt1 for the past 2 years, and i know i can shift pretty quick, but everyone is always telling me that an auto will get there quicker, but i'm thinking that's just because they can launch better, so if you take that away what are you left with..

thanks everyone for your answers

An A4 with a stall is faster than an M6

A4 if you want to be fast at the track, M6 if you want to kill on the streets.

so you are saying that if both launched the same the stalled a4 will pull all the way down the track...the six speed will not have better gearing and take over..?

The A4 is faster due to the pcm shifting for you. There is no risk of missing a gear or shifting at the wrong time. With a stall especially the A4 pulls hard

The reason I got an M6 was for the fun of shifting and the fact it can hold a lot of power. From what I understand, a lightly modded A4 tranny will hold up, but once you get past a certain point, it needs to be built.

Its obviously pricey to turn an automatic into a bullet-proof unit.
