Default how a A4 can beat a M6 from a roll???

I've done some searching and haven't quite found the answer...

1) how badly would a A4 lose to a M6 from a roll?
2) What size stall would a A4 need to beat a mod-for-mod M6, from a roll?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know a whole lot about stall converters. I have heard that they take off nearly a second on your 1/4. However if you go too radical they actually make your car a little slower on the street (from a roll?). Sorry I'm so vague...Anyone else?

You need to know where your power band is in order to know what stall will work for you.

The only time I think stalled A4 would beat M6 guys if they (A4) owners have more mods than M6 owners. M6 guys always have the advantage of having 10-20 rwh more than A4 owners. I raced an M6 guys w/ similar mods, my car vs 2K Pewter SS M6 and he walked me very slowly past 100 or so but on the track I beat him by .2 sec. BTW, I also have 3.42 rear so we were even w/ everything except for the tranny.

They aren't that much different from a roll if you are in a good spot where your a4 downshifts. I've raced my friends lid/exhaust a4 99 against my m6 and we were pretty close til i hit 3rd and thats when i started pullin...

i was going to put a little stall, shift kit, new trans, cooler, 3.73 all at once when i thought i was gonna be keeping it. im sure that would have helped it out alot but never got to find out.

id change the gear i have a 3.42 out of my 02 SS if u have a 2.73 like me then it would wake it up alot but gas mileage would barely change if any - i could let the gear go if ur interested just let me know. do you have a 2.73 or 3.23? if you dont know then go look in the door jamb does it say GU2 or GU5 as one of the codes on the upper sticker?

GU2 = 2.73
GU5 = 3.23

Gears/shift kit will probably help you. I love the way my friends car shifts with a shift kit...

Personal preference....get an m6, you won't be disappointed, unless you are bracket racing..

autos suck up alot more power. theyre best used from a stop. a stall, shift kit and gears do help but a manual even with less power can give autos problems from a roll.

i agree, when i hit 3rd not that many cars keep up

another thing, here where i live, whe got so poor tarmac on our track that whe dont have any grip at the start, and the m6 cars are taking better times at the track here, both m6 and a4 have to start so smoothle that the A4 car just dosn't keep up with the m6 for the rest of the track

You guys ever tried manually downshifting an automatic as you go WOT
The key is to make sure you upshift the lever before the pcm shift the trans.
I used to do this on my `94 Formula A4 w/2.73's, and it would surprise alot of people.

i'm runnin an a4, with a 224 cam 3800 stall, longtubes, and an under-drive pully, and i've already had 2 m6's with headers only pull me like i was in reverse, from a 30-40 roll, 3+ cars....

killed em at the track though....
