no catalytic convertors (filters exhaust so its clean) the stock ones are restrictive, so alot of people take them off or run higher flowing cats. they are on the pipe that merges the two off the headers into 1 single pipe. (Y pipe)

loudest? assuming everything else is stock i'd venture to say slp loudmouth or flowmaster probably..
if your ultimate goal is to be loud, i'd go with some lt headers, ory, and loudmouth for the catback

varies man, i'd take them off yourself and get an off road Y. call some places up if you don't want to do it yourself. i called places up to get my cat-back put on and it varied from 50-200 dollars...
i'd do it myself but i dont have a way to get the car up in the air and for 65 bucks ill just let someone else do it, haha.
btw, i'm getting my slp loudmouth put on tomorrow morning...i'll let you know how loud it is.
i fired up a 02 ws6 with slp LM the other day and it was ridiculously loud. i only had it up to 3500 and it was plug your ears loud.
for the best flowing, sounding, budget exhaust most would probably say magnaflow. and flowmaster is the pyle of car audio.

If you get the borla you wont regret It. I have the 3inch borla adjustable cat back. I Now have long tubes and a y pipe which makes the car sound really good in my opinion and pretty loud. I would venture to say it is up there with the top set ups for noise level.
When you order the kit it will not come with cats. You will still use the cats on the car. The kit connects to the mid pipe which is in between the end of the Y pipe and your muffler. Good luck with your modding.

I've got longtubes an ORY and the I-pipe for the loudmouth that I turned down and to the side, that SOB is loud! At WOT it sounds like a circle track car. I will be switching over to the hooker exhaust system soon which should quiet it down. I think the LOUDMouth sounds the best on stock manifolds and I love the way it sounds with Longtubes and ORY but I don't need anymore tickets, I have paid the state enough money

I just installed the SLP Loudmouth II catback on my 2000 SS vert and it sounds awesome. Nice and throaty w/ a mean growl as RPMs increase.
Loud - but not obnoxious. And, it's SLP which has history w/ the SS.
The Loudmouth II, as most know of you probably know, comes w/ a muffler, instead of the resonator, which is found on Loudmouth I systems.
