Auto ?'s please help Thinking of getting a t/a and from reading the forus here I see that there seems to be lots of people having issues with the 4l60e not holding up too well. First thing my dad told me when I asked what tranny I should get was go TH350 and you cant go wrong. I want the car to be my DD but capable of track time and not have to worry to much about it. Yes I know U race U brake but limiting he possiblities with the breaking is what I am conserned about since Ill need to drive it to work come monday haha. I wouldnt think the TH350 would be very friendly as a DD what do yall think? Do any of you have a TH350 and use as a DD? the tranny my dad told me to get is this

Just an odd question. the TH350 is a good tranny, its a three speed auto and was used in many cars from the 80's and back farther. The 4L60E is the same as a 700r4/4L60 just electronic. I havent heard horror stories about the trans not holding up. If you get a T/A 93 or newer It will probably have the 4L60 or 4L60E in it, so if you wanted the TH350 you would have some modifications to make.
a th350 is a 3 speed tranny. you will lose your overdrive, and gas mileage will drop alot as far as daily driving is concerned. your best bet imo is to use the existing tranny till it dies and then get a rebuilt tranny from a reputable sponsor here. They can build you a tranny that can run in the 10's or at least low 11's, and you can still keep your existing driveshaft and torque arm.

Thanks all for the reply... The car I thinking of getting has a forged 408 stroker and had a 4L60E alrdy in it but he apparently had problems with it and is sending it back from what he said. Forgot to mention that when posting srry.
