header comparison
has anyone ever seen or done a power comparison test for ls1 headers? i never seen one before so i bought the slp headers i always wanted for my 01 z28 only to find out they are the worst headers as far as ground clearance is concerned.i did want to lower the car at least an inch and wasnt really worried about speedbumps and such.does the slps make much more power than any other brand? they are the only brand that i've found to state their power gains in their add which is what attracted me to them.should i get rid of the slps and go to a different brand?the slps are the only tuned length header on the market that i am aware of and thats why i bought them.im more concerned with the power difference than ground clearance issues but if they are all real close in power gains then i will sell them and get another brand, any comments?

hedman headers sells a stepped header for about the same price as the pacesetter and it makes more low end torque than just the straight 1 3/4 inch primary tube headers, such as the slp and pacesetter. the primaries on the hedman are 1 5/8-1 3/4 with a 3 inch secondary opening.

most of the headers all will make bout the same power. only differences are clearance and quality. most of the headers are just ceramic coated that will eventually rust. the SLP actually are one of the better quality headers. just its clearance isnt so good. im running the pacesetters. they really woke up my car and im really happy with them. they are the best budget headers out there. i think they tested a set of SLP headers on a GTO and it gained like 50 hp!! i think thats what GM HIGH TECH needs to do. they need a set of header hp comparisons.

Pacesetters have always been a good choice in my opinion. Here's a link to a before and after install hp.

They are stainless, they WILL be better. With coated headers the coating WILL wear off. The XS are stainless and WILL NOT wear off. The material also helps with keeping the heat in, and that will help the scavaging effect.

im with you txz28ls1.someone does need to do a comparison test.they all should be within a couple horse and pound feet of each other but for the price of the slps they should be above and beyond all else.i guess since they are tuned length headers is why they have clearance problems.i cant complain to much though because i got my set off of ebay for $200 shipping included.thanks for everyones input

I'm having the same problems deciding between hooker, jethot, or pacesetter. I think I'm gonna just get the pacesetters and the ory and a hooker cb. I hear that there really isn't much power or sound difference between headers, so that's what i'm thinking.
