Default PCV valve?

I went to AZ to get stuff for my up and coming oil change, well i decided to get a new PCV valve as well. But the one I got is hollow, but the one thats in the car now isnt it has a berring in it or something? Whats the deal, is this a new design or did the guy at the store give me the wrong PCV valve?

There was an updated PCV valve issued that isn't really a valve anymore. I beleive it was first used on the LSx trucks. It's got a 3mm hole vs the 10mm hole in the stock valve, but no actual "valve" inside.

yeah, it supposedly helps cut down on oil being sucked into the intake. i use the hollow one with an ls6 intake and do not have oil in my intake.

ya this is the updated valve if thats what you want to call it. I have it on my car and noticed a difference in oil consumption. So I guess it works.

Me too....when I changed it probably a year and a half ago, the Camaro one was still valved so I had to give them the part number for the C6 one if I recall to get the one you have. It's a direct replacement and I actually found out about it searching for how to cut down on oil consumption, which you'll find is a slight issue with these cars. Mine wasn't out of control or anything but when I first bought it I didn't realize they consumed (it's never leaked visibly), but you'll probably lose a quart every couple thousand miles. The new valve helped a bit...
