Default dfco problem

So my dfco (deceleration fuel cut off) kicks in around 70-75 well my car gets louder and it slows down considerably even when going downhill i can start at the top of the hill going 75 by the time i get to the bottom i'm only running 65 this sucks cause either i have to hold the gas going downhill or at the bottom i have to accelerate back to 75 my 97z did the same thing but didnt slow down any in fact i was usually pressing the brake to stay out of someones bumper. this really destroys my mpg. anyone else have this prob or know how to fix it?
