car is not in an area where i can work on it right now, but i would like to get some input for when i can get acess to it.

battery is good
security light is not on now, at one point (just once) it was on
sound like a starter or security?

Was the car sitting for a long time ?
whats the click, in it inside your car or are you talking about you the starter?
If I have good power and the and the car has never done it befor I hit my starter with somthing then try to start it or hit it while some one is trying to start it. Starters go bad it just happen and if you have to hit it to make it work it means the brushes on the inside are warn out. But it could be the starter solenoid that is not working and you can normaly hear that click when you turn the key if you dont that could be it but still you need to get a new starter.
But check all your fuses and junk to be shure that an easy check,
