LS1 Newbie Hey everyone.
Just wanted to introduce myself.
I recently sold my 94 Trans Am and have just purchased a 2002 Firehawk. It unfortuanetly isn't here yet, it's being shipped from California.
But in the mean time I want to learn as much about the car and the engine as possible. Can someone point me to good articles/documentation, especially on the LS1.
I know very little about engines, I know the parts and how they work, but don't really know how one part effects another (i.e. Cams, Heads and Compression). Also some info on using LS1Edit would be great.

Re: LS1 Newbie Using LS1EDIT is more of an advanced subject, and you will really not need it until you start doing internal engine modifications where you have to adjust for drivability issues. Stick with the simple bolt-ons first and get those out of the way while you learn.

All-aluminum block and heads
composite plastic resin intake
10.1:1 compression ratio
same hp as the Corvettes, rated at 345hp. Just underrated for f-body
distributorless ignition system, utilizing a seperate coil for each cylinder
what else?

I came here right after I got my '00 Formula and got plenty of tips on what mods to do and maintenence tips.
