Default TB Spacers??

Anyone had any luck with a tb spacer in your Ls1. The one I'm looking at is made by obx. Her's what they have to say about it: The OBX Votex Power Flow Throttle Body Spacer installs between the intake manifold and throttle body to raise the throttle body one-inch. The additional height combined with the unique OBX spiral flow design creates a vortex airflow that greatly increases power output and fuel mileage.

Faster fuel induction for more horsepower

Mega spiral flow design for fuel efficiency

Dyno proven and race proven

Compatible with turbo, superchargers, and naturally aspirated vehicles

Billet aluminum solid piece

Direct bolt-on without modification

Installation instructions included

All necessary gaskets and hardware included

What do you'll think......it cost a little over 60 bucks after tax.

not sure about on a fuel injected car, but i have a spacer under the carb of my 406 and it adds about .1-.2 in the 1/8th. basically gives more time to get the air/fuel mixed.

Not sure if it would do anything as the fuel is injected right before the intake valve. That's all the atomization its going to see. Other than the flow characteristics of the head, combustion chamber i don't think there is much that can be done to aid the process, it's just air coming in through a longer TB.

I'm with djsanchez... never really understood the concept of a spacer on a fuel injected car. If someone could enlighten us, please do. Other, save your $60.

the way a throttle body spacer works on a F.I. car is similar to the effect of a straw. suck in with your lips in a "straw drinking" shape (but with no straw) and notice the suction. now do the same thing WITH a straw. you are getting the same AMOUNT of air, but with a different type of suction. throttle body spacers do the same thing and have one effect. THEY MOVE THE POWERBAND TOWARD THE HIGHER RPM'S. but very marginally. you may make your peak HP 100 rpms higher. i personally think they are a big waste of money.
tornados dont do a damn thing (except on carburetors)

fast of money sense its fuel injected..spacers on a carberated car is a very good idea tho bc its gives the air/fuel more time to mix

check out the TBI on the late 80's early 90's chevy's

see that, thats fuel injection at it's early stages, still has the same idea of carburetor metering valve sitting ontop of the engine....like a carb

put a spacer on one of them, you'll see an increase it's fuel injectied

school dismissed!!!

Very good point, but its not relevent to our cars. So to the OP, dont buy that damn spacer!
