Default which LS1 car

I've been thinking, i want a life long sports car. ok i have an SS now with moving in on 90K miles and its going to need an engine and drive train upgrades eventually and i was thinking if i'm going to throw a bunch of money at it i want to make sure its the car worth throwing money at... I like the way the SS's and the Vette coupes look so it could go either way with that and i don't know which one would be better for a poject.

Vette has a frame, easier to work on, the history, and handling
Camaro is cheaper, already have it, What i learned to drive on(personal history)

I want to get a 427 C5R in it and all the other goodies after college, i don't know what is the car i want to go with (why i haven't moded my car already)

also do you think that the LS1 will stick around like the 5.0's have because if the parts aren't around it would suck. Sorry its so long but its just on my mind thanks for your thoughts on my problems

Well I'd keep the SS, Vettes are awesome cars, but if u plan on doing some high HP drag racing (427C5R that youd like to do) in a vette u better do some big $$$$ upgrading on the rearend on the Vette. At least with a SS U can just buy a tough 12bolt or 9inch. I'd love a vette but u even mention the name the price goes up. That and the SS is a LOB, well maybe until chevy gets a freakin clue and makes it again. I think the LS1 or a relative that we can interchange with will be along for a long time.

yeah, I think the Gen3 engine will be around for awhile. Primarily as truck engines (compare now the number of vettes sold to number of trucks sold) I don't think GM would put all the money into developing a great engine, just to dump it 7 years later. I think it will be around for many more years.
