Default How stable?

Hey guys, i was just wondering how stable a LS1 equiped car is say over 100mph. Also are these cars limited in top speed? can you chip it to get rid of it? thanks!

I have had mine up to 154mph. It felt like 154mph! Kind of loud.

But I have mine up to around 100-110mph every couple of days, and it feels good. Couple days ago I had it up to 110mph for a good 5 minutes with a Cobra, RSX-S, and an M3, playing on the turnpike. Felt very stable. I couldn't give an opinion on a stock F-Bod, I've got some suspension goodies.

You can get rid of the top speed using a programmer. I have Diablo Predator, I believe hypertech allows you to remove it as well. They are limited at 160 I THINK. Without the limiter, a stock F-Bod goes 167mph I THINK. (stress on the I think, I don't to give out false info.)

100-110 feels just like 55-65 in mine. 100% stock suspension.

I had my 98 1LE Z28 up to 162mph before the governor kicked in or it just ran out of power. It was very stable and not that loud. From about 130 mph on up it was about the same. I didn't even try to move the steering wheel though.

One reason they get so loud at really high speeds is that the side windows literally get sucked out of their groove at the top.

F bodies are pretty loud at 100+mph unlike a C5 or a Z06. At 160mph my Z28 felt like it was going to get airborn. NOT a good feeling. It was extremely "bouncy". That was on stock suspension though.

Oh, BTW...there's no "chip" with LS1's.

Theres a place near my house which allows very fast cornering. 3 or 4 of them. I can take the sharpest one at 90mp(maintained speed through the turn). The others around 100-105.

Big wide road, slightly banked, 275s on all four corners, lots of fun. I always chuckle when the low traction light pops on when I enter these turns decelerating from 135ish down shifting and braking hard. Car hugs the road, very stable.

There are a few hand held programmers out there that allow you to remove limiters. You can't replace chips on these you have to reflash the computer. Don't make the hypertech mistake. Go over to the tuning section and ask what the best one is.

You may not even have a limiter depending on which tires your car came with from the factory. If you got the GSCs, or the "speed rated" RSAs, there is no limiter. If you got the non speed rated tires (GAs, I think?), the limiter is set at 115.
