Default blowers

I'm wondering why so many people do heads, cam, headers, etc. when a stock car with a blower would get about the same results. Thanks

reliability concerns mostly. Our LS1s love simple bolt-ons and cam swaps. They are really held back in stock form, with alot of potential. Plus, the LS1 is a relatively higher compression ratio engine, at 10.1:1, and it is not ideal for a blower setup. This tends to limit the amount of boost you can put thru a stock LS1 without damaging it. Non-intercooled setups, thats only around 6 lbs boost.

Heads/cam setups increase the reliability of our LS1s, by replacing the weak factory valvesprings and soft pushrods. This allows them to rev like they should. Also, you just can't beat that idle with a lope sound.

Another drawback to blowers is that they add weight to the vehicle.

If you're looking for better response, do the following in this order:

1. LS6 intake swap, with lid or FIPK
2. Head/cam swap
3. PCM reprogramming
4. Bore .060 over
5. Stroke to 4"
6. PCM reprogramming
7. torque converter (if A4)
8. transmission rebuild
9. exhaust system (Headers on back)
10. rearend gears
11. lighten car/stiffen chassis
12. drive only on dry 58 degree days at sea level
13...
14...
15...
...
...98. sell car when old and decrepit
99. die happy
100. install nitrous

Blower cars are fun though....its like nitrous in a way...I can drive around all day not even going into boost, but when ever I need it...its there....
