Default Engine/Trans weight comparisons

I've been toying with making a semi sleeper Jeep Cherokee and am stuck on engine/tranny's. Not only is price a concern, but weight is as well. With that in mind, I'm considering an ls1 and 4l60e against a 6.1 hemi and an A580.

Let me know, if you can, the weights on both. Thanks!

Chevy LS1
459(automatic)
503(manual)

The hemi has about 100lbs on the LS1.
I have also heard that the wiring is a pain in the *** to swap into a jeep.

So the hemi is 100 pounds over the chevy or the other way around?

Also, which one is hard to swap into the jeep, the hemi or chevy?

Sorry, hemi is heavier, and I heard the electronics are more difficult. It will make more power out of the box though, if you are looking at the 6.1.

I would go LS1, it is 100 pounds lighter and the initial cost will be less. You can find a wrecked car with an LS1 and auto or manual for a decent price. I would use an aftermarket ECU and harness and be done with it.

I really wanted to keep it in the family and all, but I'm not gonna overlook wiring, weight, cost, and potential all for an inbred monster.

Can anyone tell me how much lighter a 5.3 is compaired to the ls1 or ls2?
