Default Nitrous and Wideband

Looking at running a dry 50-100 shot of nitrous on a stock bottom end with upgraded rods, rockers, and springs. Other than tuning is there any other reason to get a wideband kit. I already have a narrow band A/F gauge installed in my car along with a fuel pressure, and a oil temp. I looked around and couldnt find an answer. Help!!!!!

Wideband is neccesary for proper tuning (so your right).

Using the narrow band sensors is ok, but keep in mind the narrowband sensors are designed to tell you whether its at 14.7ish (and it good for that), its lean, or its rich. Just how rich or lean is really just a wag with the narrowband. When Spraying the general opion is 11.5-12.0 is the target AFR. That being said, what is that on Narrowband? The sensor is set up for 14.7 so your looking for a rich indication, but its really a just a guess and an indication that its rich...just how rich though???

With the Wideband, you pretty much know where your at AFR wise so your tuning is more accurate (providing its set up correctly).

i would toss the narrowband a put a wideband in the hole. you still need to check your plugs, but a wideband is a nice tool, even moreso with a power adder.

To me its worth it. I have used mine for tuning and just plain running at the track/street to monitor A/F's. They fairly inexpensive for the info they give you. Prob one of the most important gauges IMO.

I just noticed your a 00.
Us 99-00 guys have 26# injectors stock, the other years have 28#
On Dry shots the injectors are pretty important. Above a 50 shot I was lean (and I knew this because the 75 shot was tested while running a wideband)...Added 42#, modified the tune to reflect the new injectors and AFR is now good.

If your using your NB on the 100 shot, and it shows 14.7...your lean, and likey the injectors/nozzle position/ or both, need to be re-evaluated.
