Default nitrous and a 5.3?

im thinking about doing nitrous instead of a turbo because of initial cost and i have a good hook up that can geet my bottles filled cheap...

this is what i have/ordered

5.3
218/224 .550/.550 114lsa cam
TSP hardened pushrods
LS6 springs
ARP rod bolts
bumpstop mod on my TB

what else would i need to do to my 5.3 to get it ready for nitrous?

i was thinking i would buy these parts

LS1 intake
ported TB
pacesetter LT's
36# injectors
and do a plate setup but how big of a shot will i be able to run?

The parts list looks good...maybe an LS6 instead of the LS1 intake. Only thing I would verify would be fuel supply system can keep up with everything. I wouldn't hesitate to hit it with a 150 shot.

The pistons are the weak link.

Don't see too many spraying 200+ on stock ones.

well i was gonna keep my truck intake but since i broke the map sensor clips off i dont want it to just blow the sensor out

and i might build my own 1 3/4" headers out of a kit since there cheaper than buying a set

What other questions did you have? I honestly think a sheet metal intake is way overkill for the set up you have listed. Stick with the LS1 or more preferably the LS6 and you'll be fine. Again, just make sure the fuel system is up to snuff.

Stud the heads and you could get away with 200+ without any worries. Also, it you're going to buy an LS1 intake, you might as well keep the truck intake. While it looks like chit and is a freaking giant, I think it flows as well as the LS1

what about ARP head bots? or should i stud them? and actually the truck intake makes more power than the LS1 but i broke off my map sensor clips and i dont want to blow the map out of the intake when i hit the spray

The studs will do a better job holding the heads down. It just depends how wild you want to get. If you're looking at 150 shot, the stock head bolts would probably work for you. If you're wanting to go 200-250 I would stud it.

The injector requirements are going to depend on what kit you're looking at. E85 requires what, 15% more fuel than gasoline right? So, if you are running a dry shot, you may want to look at 42's or 60's. You could probably get by with 36# injectors if you went with a wet kit.

i think its 30% more but i could be wrong im gonna go with 42's and a wet kit.... and hopefully it gets the job done

would stock pistons and rods hold up a 200+ shot with studded heads and ARP rod bolts?

Depends on how much you want to have milled off. While they're off the motor, you could freshen them up for fairly cheap and have a good valve job done.
