Default Nitrous cutting in and out.

I have LS6 Intake, Headers, cam, yank 3600, 3.73 gears, SVO 30lbs w/ stock fuel pump.

Just installed nitrous system and only running a 50hp shot. Just to make sure everything is ok. Glad I did.

A stock fuel pump should supply enough fuel for this setup, right? The reason I am asking is the nitrous is cutting in and out, and fuel pressure is dropping. Now after letting the car sit overnight and getting some relief from my frustration I noticed that the fuel line down stream of the solenoid was a little loose, I could still tighten by hand. Now before actually spraying the nitrous I tested the system out and was smelling fuel. I shouldn't smell fuel if all of it is going into the intake correct? If not then I know I had a leak and that is probably why the fuel pressure was dropping enough to make the n2o cut in and out?

So I guess what I am asking is, am I having a pump, FPSS, or leak issue? What other tests can I do the help determine the problem?

Thanks.

correct you should not smell gas at all and having it leak your fuel pressure will drop with that leakage....tighten her up again and recheck ur system, the lines should all be tight and not leak anywhere!

Is the stock fuel pump enough for this system though? At least for a 50 shot. Am going to replace when I go to 100.

What is your duty cycle running? I'm thinking to play it safe and put a bigger fuel pump in it.

Not exactly sure. Was going to check everything out again tonight after I fixed the leak. If it is still doing it after that will wait till I get a FP before running it on N2O again.

Good news! Fixed the leak and now everything seems to be in order. Duty Cycle under 70% and A/F in the 11's for the most part. don't plan on leaving it there just glad to know it is getting plenty of fuel. Would I be asking to much for the stock pump on a 100 shot? Not planning on doing it, just curious as to what it can handle. Man 50 felt good, can't wait for 100!!

do the 100 several people do it and you shall be fine....but start looking for a pump anyway to have it and then you can up the shot eventually

Not every car is the same. To assume your car can do it because another one did could be risky. Technically a good strong stock fuel pump should support about 450hp.

But I have seen some stock pumps peter out befor others. A fuel pressure gauge is the best way to know.

Yeah I have the guage, but the more I have thought about it I don't think I am going to try. Still trying to learn to read plugs and all on a 50 shot, so don't think I will push my luck, Will just go ahead and get the FP and play it safe.

Thanks.
