Modified MSD Window Switch Question Do you still need to cut the wire loops to put the switch in 4 cyl. mode on a switch that has been modified to 5V square wave?

A lot of people have had luck with it working without sending it back, then again there are a few out there that have had to send it back before it would work on their cars. It is hit or miss.
I bet you would have a hard time getting that type of information out of MSD.

First they told me I had to do it, not to burn out the pin. Then they did it for FREE. Why would they tell me to do it if it didn't need to be done? Second why would you pay to have a part that is sold to work on your application that needs to be modified? I didn't! Good luck.
Let me make sure iI understand this. If you buy a part for your car from a major company. The part you buy that is suppose to work without modifications and it doesn't???? Second of all, I'm the reason they know how to fix THERE problem. I was the first one to try to use it and put there r+d dept to work. I bought the modified switch from Tom Byrne because I knew it would work and not fry my computer. Is it right that MSD does this to us? No! But I didn't want to take the chance of having a problem. This is just another case of the LS1 enthusiast getting screwed (i.e. $3000 heads and $2100 crankshafts). But thanks for the help guys, I cut the 2 loops and the switch works great.

I've never heard of anyone having their computer fried. The only issue I have seen is that it does not work for some people, so they send it into MSD for recalibration. Some people have this problem but many DO NOT.
