can someone help me stop detnating
OK HERE IS MY SET UP
tsp 231/237 cam .598 .595 lift 112
tsp 5.3 heads 2.5 now milled down to .30
and all supporting bolt ons
car was flycutted .30 cut to match what i changed
car was running great until i put the fast 90 on and lost bottom end. and trevor at texas speed told me to send the heads to him and intake to port match and now i do my own tuning so now. i pulled 10 degress of timing to run a 150 shot just to be safe. car detonated
went to 100 shot with same 10 degres and did the same.
went to a colder tr7 plug and mixed 104 did the same
went to all 104 it only did it on top of 2nd gear
42 lbs injectors and walbaro 225 pump.
getting plenty fuel pressure 58psi i am stuck and i do have o2 sensors and i dont want to have to tune them out and run 112. but i think thats what i have to do

I shot ya a PM.....what are you gapping the plugs to?
Also, have you hooked up a pressure gauge to ensure you're holding that 58 PSI throughout the entire nitrous run?

I aggree with above. Something is way off unless the heads are milled more than you want giving you crazy compression. Even with that though since you tried good gas and it did not go away looks like something else. 10 degrees of timing is alittle much for a 150 shot. Odds are the problem is in the airfuel or a cracked spark plug or something.

Check that fuel pressure throughout an entire nitrous pass and see where its sitting
I agree on the 10*, seems like a bit much....I was thinking 6 and you should be great (1* per 25HP sprayed)....you may actually be able to tune some of that back in once you fix your detonation issue.

you have everything covered and shouldnt be detonating even with that much timing out.
prolly just dead rich.

I'm torn here....I know he pulled a lot of timing, but he has no hotwire kit, and its a decent H/C/I car on a 255 in tank. I've seen numerous cars just like his (some with less intake) doing more than a 255 WITH hot wire could support via stock rails.
I think monitoring the fuel pressure for the duration of a nitrous pass is gonna answer a lot. If it falls off, theres your answer.....if the fuel pressure holds, try some timing back in it

See, I can't be sure either. All I can base it off of is when I had a very similar setup. I still run off a single 255 without a hotwire kit. I never had problems with the stock rails on the jug up to a 200 shot. The reason I asked about tuning for the FAST was, when I went to the vic jr, my VE tables were waaayyyy off. It sounds like he didn't tune for the new intake, but I didn't suffer from the same symptoms he has.
