cam and nitrous?
i am a mid-size cam guy and i dont want to go any bigger. although im trying to get the most out of the current setup that i have. i have stock heads and a 228/232 588/595 cam with 112lsa. i have just installed the hsw plate kit. does it sound like this cam will work well with a 100-150 shot? and any ideas or suggestions to get the car to run good, this will be my first time with it at the track.
Unless you are spraying 350-400 the cam isn't going to matter enough to make a difference. Actually I am spraying 350-400 and the cam in my motor is similar to the one in yours.
It will be just fine.
It will be just fine.
At least from my dealings with Comp Cams, one of the more important factors in a nitrous cam is the LSA. Typically with an all motor cam I would think you'd have more along the lines of a 106-108 LSA. With a nitrous cam, 112-114 is more typical. I actually just purchased a new cam/nitrous system myself. I will be spraying 300hp on a plate system with a 112 LSA which was what was recommended from Comp Cams. So on 100-150 you should be perfectly fine. I believe the LSA in N/A vs. nitrous is about cam overlap and ultimately cylinder pressure and when the valves are open/closed. Correct me if I'm wrong. Without the larger LSA the comment was "anymore than a 150hp shot would just blow right through (be wasted)"
