wats a good setup to retard timing?
wats a good setup to retard timing? i have a 97 trans am with an 0bd1 computer. i want to run a 175 rwhp shot on 91 octane. how much do i need to retard the timing and can i use an msd box to get the job done? if so what box? how much power would i lose if i just retarded it with the tune when naturally aspirated?

Use the digital MSD 6 AL. You need to talk to Nitrous Outlet. Also 91 octane is gonna hurt but it can be done. Where are you located?
I guess you know that a basic pull is 1 degree for every 25 hp shot so 7degrees for 175. 91 octane is cutting it close.
Timing pull can be permanent with a tune but will affect NA performance unless your tuner can do something else with a obd1. MSD, Timing Tuner, LNC-002 are out there as addons to pull timing when nitrous is active and reverts to NA tune when off. Timing tuner will pull up to 12 degrees & can double as a window switch, LNC-002 can pull up to 15 deg.
