Ok, retarded newbie question here...but:

How do you get the nitrogen back out of the N2O bottle when you want to refill?

edit:
2nd retarded newbie question:
When the N2O runs out and the bottle is filled with nitrogen, would a purge system still function?

Open the valve and let it ALL out. Nitrogen, remaining nitrous ,everything.
You will then have an empty nitrous bottle ready to fill.

This is cool as hell! Looks like you have a real strong running C4 as well I think all of us would really love pics though. What can ya do for us?

Wouldnt it harm the motor if the bottle ran out of N20 and started pumping nitrogen into the engine? Or would it just make it run pig rich??

Nitrogen has no effect on the motor. Since Al's is a dry setup, no extra fuel would be added. (no rich condition)

alrighty, so how would this be applied to a wet kit? Is there some way of cutting the system off it runs out of N2O?

Ive ran out of nitrous with this once before. It starts to surge REALLY hard about 3 seconds before the bottle runs out. So youll know its coming and just come off the button.
Most of the time i just make like 5-6 passes on the big nitrous shot before i refill the bottle. I just weigh the bottle before i fill it at my shop, i usually have 1-2 lbs left, but its no big deal really because I used to have to fill it at 5lbs because a bottle heater wouldnt hold the pressure up after 1-2 passes...

I'll get some pics on here soon.

so the n20 bottle is filling with nitrogen and pushing the n20 correct.

so when you weigh it nitrogen dont weigh any thing??

also did i understand it correctly that the n20 and nitrogen wont mix so you will still have pure n20 going into the motor correct???

i get what you are doing but dont quite understand how the two gasses are working together in the same bottle.

Nitrogen weighs almost nothing. I doubt you could even measure a full nitrogen bottle..unless you had a very accurate scale.

Nitrogen is completely inert and will not react with any other gas.

When you think of both gases in a bottle..thats where you get confused. Basically you have to think of nitrous in a nitrous bottle as a liquid..because under pressure...it IS a liquid. If it were gaseous this whole concept would not work.

Anybody konw of any legality issues with having a nitrogen bottle in the car? Considering the atmosphere is 78% nitrogen i wouldn't think so but all those dman crazy lawmakers are nuts.

the only thing I could think of for street legality sake is perhpas the EPA would frown on it, since nitrogen injected into an engine will have an effect on the NOx gasses in the exhaust... I know that around here, you can legally have a nitrous system on the car, but the bottle can't be physically hooked into the system on the street (regardless of if the bottle valve is open or not). Not sure if this would apply to the nitrogen bottle as well or not though....

epa frown on nitrogen? no. There is no legality or problem with nitrogen....everyone should quite assuming....
It wouldnt directly affect the nox..

Id hope everyone would quit making up random reasons on problems with this...

nitrogen wouldnt cause the nox to skyrcoket...

Simmer down.... I'm not saying there's a problem with the system. I actually love the idea, and think it's quite badass, and plan to run one myself. I just know that around here (Dallas/Ft Worth) you can be ticketed for having even a simple nitrous system hooked up on the street, so I don't think the local officers around here would treat straight nitrogen any differently (hell, most of them probably wouldn't be able to differentiate between the nitrous system and the nitrogen push setup for the nitrous system). That law stems from our local emmissions requirements, and the way that nitrous affects the NOx emissions.

They guys asked if there were any legality issues, I just told him that AFAIK, the system is perfectly legal on the street as long as none of the bottles aren't physically connected to the engine. That simply means unscrewing the 4 or 6 AN nitrous line from the bottle to your engine just as you would with ANY nitrous system to technically be legal. You can carry the bottles around in the car all you want like that.....

Not ******* the idea, i love it too and plan on using this system this summer.

btw, thanks for bringing this whole idea up! It's great when people can share good inventions like this. Thats why i love ls1tech.

There is no legality issue here in FL. With either nitrous or nitrogen.
Nitrogen is inert, doesnt react with any other substance and is pretty harmless. Basicaly a gas that doesnt do anything. There should be NO legality issues with that anywhere that I could see. Nitrous would be a way bigger problem in most states.

If your worried about it...just get an industry label marking the nitrogen as such. That should help out if a cop gives you a ticket for it thinking it was something else. Take it to court, tell him it was clearly labeled, and let them prove its NOT nitrogen and IS something illegal.

c4 and 383,
how much nitrous in weight do you consume on your large shots in the 1/4

also instead of pumping high octane gas do either of you guys use any kind of supplemental octane booster?
the FI guys have meth and alchy, didnt know if anyone tried them instead of
VP
I have a dual stage dry I am working on and was wondering if the second could be a wet alchy but spray the alchy in seprate
this is just to be able to ride around on pump gas until you spay the big shot
I have seen the threads on the standalone fuel setups reagrding pump pressure but thought this would be neat to try

I should start another thread on this

So when you are ready to take the bottle out you just close the valve on the Nitrogen and cut off the supply to the N20, then diconnect the N20 from the car right?

How much Nitrogen is typically left in the Nitrogen bottle afterwards.....and how many N fill-ups do you get in relation to N20 fill-ups?

Sorry..forgot my other question...
Does anyone know if Nitrogen Push is IHRA legal?
