HSW switch question.

HSW switch question. ok, i have the brute force wet kit setup. i decided to clean the wiring setup up and get some different switches.
i want to use a toggle switch for the arming function that only has 2 terminals on it. the schematic from HSW shows a 3 terminal switch for that function with a ground. whats the purpose of this ground? is it to ground the switch if it has a light inside or something? does it ground the WOT switch out, if so, why does it need a power lead? im confused here.
